Los Angeles 2018 IT Security Summit Recap

Los Angeles 2018 IT Security Summit Recap

On September 13th, PCM gathered influential IT Security leaders for an exclusive event in Los Angeles, at the Porsche Experience Center. At the event, our security experts examined California’s New Data Privacy Law to break down the possible outcomes and effects of its implementation. A panel discussion was held by security experts, where the latest evolution of Cybersecurity was central topic. Keynote speaker, and white hat hacker, Michael “MafiaBoy” Calce capped off presentations with his invitation to step inside the mind of a hacker. He showed the varied and clever ways hackers have beaten security over the years, and how best to defend yourself today.

About Mafia Boy
In 2000, at 15 years old, MafiaBoy executed a massive denial-of-service (DoS) attack that crippled some of the internet’s most popular websites. Calling the attack Rivolta, Calce brought down Yahoo!, eBay, CNN, Amazon, and other sites, causing an estimated $1.7 billion in damages. This was a time when the internet and ecommerce were beginning to boom, so a hacker’s goal back then was to be first to market and to establish himself in the cyberworld.

Today, Michael Calce is an entrepreneur, public speaker, white hat hacker and author who uses the lessons he learned to continue teaching about the world of cyber security. His company, Optimal Secure, is a Montreal-based cyber security firm specializing in penetration testing and it’s one part of his continuous effort to keep people informed about the reality of cyber attacks and how they can defend themselves.
