Global Data Protection

IT Transformation requires information security and governance through sound data protection. Yet, the key findings from the 2016 edition of the Global Data Protection Index –a landmark Dell EMC sponsored data protection readiness survey of over 2,200 IT decision makers globally—reveal that the vast majority of organizations are still behind the curve in data protection readiness.

Dell EMC surveyed 2200 IT decision makers across 18 countries on the maturity of their data protection strategies, and assessed the relative preparedness of their businesses.

A few of those key findings are:

  • Modernizing data protection means considering a continuum of technologies to meet all business needs as well evolving data protection for new demands like cloud, flash, CI, CDM.
  • Data growth continues and the shift to the cloud is rapidly reshaping the IT landscape potentially exposing more data.
  • Most companies globally are behind the curve and lacking confidence that their data protection solutions will cover all future requirements.
  • Data loss and downtime are expensive with new threats like cyber-attacks emerging.

Other findings are that organizations tend to experience more data loss costs when using more vendors and end to experience more data unplanned systems downtime when using more vendors.
